YTU is located inYantai city. Yantai is a beautiful coastal city located in eastern Shandong Province. Perched on the northern part of Shandong Peninsula, it faces China’s Liaodong Peninsula, South Korea, and Japan.

The convenient ferry service between Yantai and Dalian cuts travel time significantly. The Yantai- Qingdao and the Weihai –Rongcheng intercity commuter trains bring convenient, fast travel between these cities on the Peninsula. From Yantai International Airport, flights to cities like Seoul, Osaka, HongKong, Taipei, Beijing, Shanghai,etc. are always available.

Yantai has a temperate marine climate with abundant sunshine and 4 distinct seasons. The temperate climate means that Yantai is never too hot and humid, nor cold and dry.

Yantai is located on the Jiaodong Peninsula, the birthplace of Shandong folk culture. It is the home of Shandong cuisine, one of the major eight cuisines in China. It is world-famous for its abundant seafood and assorted fruits.

With more than 30,000 students, Yantai university is a comprehensive university full of energy and passion.

Yantai university has 56 undergraduate programs, covering 9 disciplines, including social sciences and humanities, basic and applied sciences, engineering, law, agriculture, pharmacy, economic management, and education.

In 1984,YanTai University was established with the help from Peking University and Tsinghua University, the two premier universities in China.

In 2011, it gained the right of Distinguished Engineer Education Program by the Ministry of Education.

In 2012, Yantai university became one of the model universities for training students of law.

In 2013, itbecame one offirstprovincial universities to enter into the“Prominent University Project”.

It has established partnerships with 87 universities from 21 countries and regions; Students from 34 countries currently study at YTU.

YTU was one of the first batch of Universities that wasapproved to accept foreign students in China.It hosts HSK, TOPIK, BEC andother exams.

There are more than 20 professors who have majored in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, most of whom have overseas teaching experiences. The professors are outstanding in international Chinese teaching, Chinese linguistics, and education.

It offers Chinese language training programs twice a year and offers consultation and enrollment services all year round.

YTU has established a complete system of international education. The International Students Section of International Office provides students with counseling and application of visa and residence permits throughout the year.The School of International Education provides support for students as a mature professional organization of Chinese teaching to foreigners. The International Service Center offers dormitories for international students and other relevant services.

YTU organizes colorful Chinese language contests and activities that can help International students read, speak and write fluent Chinese. These activities also promote communications among international students.

Chinese Language Training (Foundation Program)

• As one of the first Universities approved to accept foreign students in China, Yantai University has hosted students from over 30 different countries and regions.
• Yantai University has achieved a complete teaching system in international education , teaching management, and diverse extracurricular activities.
• All the staff have experiences of teaching abroad and outstanding knowledge of the Chinese language, literature, and pedagogy.
